Prof. Guy de Mulder

Guy De Mulder studied at Ghent University and received a Master in History (1988) and a Master in Archaeology (1991). He worked from 1993 until 2015 in the Provincial Archaeological Museum at Velzeke (Zottegem) concentrating on the Gallo-Roman period. In 2005 he started as assistant at the Department of Archaeology (Ghent University). He obtained his PhD in 2011. He was appointed professor in protohistory at the department in 2015. His research is focused on different topics: the cremation rites of the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age cemeteries, material culture of the Bronze and Iron Ages; radiocarbon dating. He was a PI in the EoS-project “Crumbel” which focused on mobility from the Late Neolithic until the early Medieval period studying isotopes from cremated bones. Another research focus is the protohistoric archaeology of the Balearic Islands, specifically the so-called limeburials and the excavation of Cornia Nou, an enigmatic site in the building history of the talayotic culture. 
He is member of the board of the ‘Belgian Metal Ages Association’ (CAM-Lunula) and member of the ‘Association pour la Promotion des Recherches sur l'Age du Bronze’ (APRAB).
